Forest Grove High School (2024-2026)

Rendering of renovated FGSD entryThe 2022 FGSD Bond is undertaking numerous projects to rejuvenate Forest Grove High School. Already underway are safety and security projects to add or augment security camera coverage in the building. A distributed antenna system is being installed to improve first responder radio communications throughout the building to ensure there are no gaps. The main entrance to the school will be renovated for added security (as shown to the right).

An upcoming bond project is the expansion of career-technical education facilities, specifically for the new Early Childhood Education program. This project includes a pre-K classroom, nursery and an outdoor play area for the young children. A slideshow of the design for these facilities is shown below.

Other projects include: upgrades to DAS communications, HVAC, electrical, plumbing and roofing; updates to boilers; seismic upgrades; repairs to the building exterior, parking, grounds and track; updated kitchen equipment; and expanded internet access and instructional technology.

The contractor has broken ground on the site of the new addition at the northeast corner of the Forest Grove High School building. The addition will house the early childhood education program at the school, providing expanded facilities for students, staff and families.

Inside the main building, the old nursery (room 1309) is being converted into a regular classroom, while room 1404 will house the new nursery right next to the addition.

Security coordinator shows cellular DAS panels  DAS receiver in ceiling

FGSD Safety and Security Coordinator Patrick Hess points out the base station panels housing the connections for the distributed antenna system being installed at the school. Units in the ceiling enhance signals to minimize "dead spots," with wiring connected throughout the building up to multiple rooftop antennae. Currently, cellular communications enhancements have been added; next week, the equipment for emergency radio communications will be installed to complete the project.
