Happy New Year! I am excited about the new year and hope you all enjoyed the winter break.
The district will be making a renewed emphasis on the importance of regular school attendance and the measurable benefits students receive as a result. Regular attendance helps students achieve success. The benefits of social exposure and being taught different subjects in school will help them develop skills that benefit them for the rest of their lives. As a parent, it is crucial to work with your student in conveying the importance of regular attendance to your child and how missing out can impact their future.
Over the next several editions of this newsletter, and in connection with the start of the new semester, we will be sharing important data, critical information, and resulting benefits students receive from regular attendance. Look for this information coming soon.

FGSD Bond
We are moving forward with the planning process of the planned bond projects. It is a very in-depth process but we are excited that there is progress. We have been meeting with the project management team and working through the process of selecting architectural firms. We will be reporting to the School Board on Monday, January 9th on this selection process. Additionally, at the January 23rd meeting, we will be discussing the creation of a Bond Oversight Committee which will consist of community members and students that will help to advise on the process.

In November, Forest Grove School District parent, Sandra Martin Perez, was selected to become the State Parent Advisory Committee (SPAC) President to represent Oregon Migrant Families on a state level.
Sandra came to the United States in 2017 with her husband and two daughters: Gabriela Chaley Martin graduated from FGHS and is now in her first year at PSU and Katheryn who is currently a senior at FGHS. Sandra has been an active participant in the district and is active in the Title Parent Advisory Committee (TPAC) meetings. She has recently received her GED and became a US citizen.

¡Feliz año nuevo! Estoy emocionado por el nuevo año y espero que todos hayan disfrutado de las vacaciones de invierno.
El distrito hará un énfasis renovado en la importancia de la asistencia regular a la escuela y los beneficios medibles que los estudiantes reciben como resultado. La asistencia regular ayuda a los estudiantes a lograr el éxito. Los beneficios de la exposición social y de que a nuestros alumnos se les enseñen diferentes materias en la escuela, los ayudarán a desarrollar habilidades que los beneficiarán por el resto de sus vidas. BONO FGSD
Estamos avanzando con el proceso de planificación de los proyectos de bonos planificados. Es un proceso muy profundo, pero estamos entusiasmados de que haya progreso. Nos hemos estado reuniendo con el equipo de gestión del proyecto y trabajando en el proceso de selección de estudios de arquitectura. Estaremos informando a la Junta Directiva Escolar de nuestro distrito el lunes 9 de enero sobre este proceso de selección. Además, en la reunión del 23 de enero, discutiremos la creación de un Comité de Supervisión de Bonos que estará compuesto por miembros de la comunidad y estudiantes que ayudarán a asesorar acerca de este proceso.

En noviembre, la madre de una estudiante que asiste a clases en nuestro distrito escolar de Forest Grove, Sandra Martín Pérez, fue seleccionada para convertirse en la presidenta del Comité Asesor de Padres del Estado (SPAC). Ella va a representar a las familias migrantes de Oregón a nivel estatal.
Sandra llegó a los Estados Unidos en 2017 con su esposo y sus dos hijas: Gabriela Chaley Martin se graduó de FGHS y ahora está en su primer año en PSU y Katheryn, quien actualmente es estudiante de último año en FGHS. Sandra ha sido una participante activa en el distrito y está activa en las reuniones del Comité Asesor de Padres de Título (TPAC). Recientemente recibió su GED y se convirtió en ciudadana estadounidense.
