The Forest Grove School District is pleased to announce that Ted Zehr has been selected to serve as the Interim Principal of Neil Armstrong Middle School for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. Mr. Zehr is filling the vacancy left by Mr. Osvaldo Garcia-Contreras who has accepted a new role as District ELD/Migrant/Equity Coordinator. Mr. Zehr has extensive experience as a building administrator, district administrator and teacher and has demonstrated a keen ability to lead staff and students in the pursuit of academic excellence. Zehr will officially begin on February 1st.
Mr. Zehr has held the position of interim principal before. In 2018 he was appointed interim principal at St. Helens High School. Prior to this position, Zehr served as the executive director of secondary schools for the Hillsboro School District. In that role, he oversaw four middle schools and four high schools. He was also tasked with directing the district's alternative and online education programs. Prior to his time as a district administrator, Zehr worked as principal and assistant principal at Century High School for a total of 16 years. He began his educational career teaching math and science at Oregon City, Hillsboro, Century high schools. Additionally he has been an adjunct professor at Lewis and Clark College for four years, within their school leadership licensure program.
“I am excited to be part of the Neil Armstrong Middle School community,” said Mr Zehr. “As an educator and parent in Hillsboro, my interactions with students and families from the Forest Grove community have always been positive. As a youth and high school coach, I have seen the students and community in Forest Grove demonstrate outstanding character, grit and positive support of one another, as well as their competitors. Recent conversations have only affirmed this. I know everyone at NAMS wants to support each and every student in their educational journey. I look forward to working with the outstanding staff and students on a daily basis to provide the outstanding educational experience they deserve.”
Mr. Zehr earned a BS in Mathematics and Physics at Linfield College, a MST in Mathematics at Portland State University and his Administrative Licensure at Lewis and Clark College.
The district is excited to welcome Mr. Zehr as part of our district family and wishes him well as he begins the next chapter of his career in Forest Grove.

El Sr. Zehr obtuvo una licenciatura en Matemáticas y Física en Linfield College, una maestría en matemáticas en Portland State University y su licenciatura administrativa en Lewis and Clark College.
